i actually just recently started watching it again because i too never really gave it much of a shot. i find the pacing of seasons really weird and i was thinking about just finding a good list of the essential episodes but there is a lot more character development which you kinda need to really enjoy the show. the dozens of people who think ds9 is the best series are still from wrong island but it is a lot better than i ever gave it credit for.
I got through almost 6 seasons of it over the last year, but haven't started the last season of it yet. I hit an episode that just really doesn't interest me, and I started it 3 times then just switched to something else. All in all, it is much better than I thought it would be, but it could really use about a 30% reduction in episode count.
"Hu-MANS." I think every Ferengi character is asked to say humans in that slightly weird emphasis.
And what a great minute of classic Star Trek. I've never sat down and watched DS9, but I really should. DS9 took the the ideals and values of the Federation and turned them on their head. It analyzed and examined them in new and interesting ways. I think I may have been too harsh on it in the past, and really should sit down and watch it through, giving it a fair shake.
