Any downvoters care to comment on the content of the article?

I mean... kinda... It leaves out some stuff.. I'm thinking mostly the sensationalized title. Many millions of people deal with the daily decisions, from hospital nurses one-on-one to mayors and governors doing their own plans. We did the hard lockdown and ticktok nurses danced in the isles while cnn said hospitals were over flowing. The media hasnt been consistent. Some places have 0.001 death rate and some have multiple %. Old people vs young people, Vitamin D and zinc, hydroxycloriwhatever, indoor circulated air in offices vs outside in the UV/sunlight that kills viruses, the protests in every state for 70 days straighth.. there's just not enough info and to say "Trump killed thousands" is over the top.

You're not interested in learning new things or changing your worldview based upon new information so nobody wants to engage you. There is absolutely nothing that can be said that will change your mind. Because you're a brainwashed, useful idiot, with no ability to think for yourself.

The "article" doesn't merit a rebuttal because it's unvarnished, sloppy propaganda that isn't even internally consistent. Anybody paying a modicum of attention in 2020 can spot the numerous outright lies and falsehoods in it. The fact that you don't underscores my original point.

The phone call, the talking points Trump picked up from it, and his subsequent attempts to cover up his alliance with Xi are part of a deep betrayal.

The idea that Xi and Trump had or have some secret alliance is completely detached from reality and the events that have occurred between Xi and Trump over the last four years. The article's author purposely wrote that down for the purposes of propaganda and misleading the public. If you actually believe it then you are a dunce. At least the author has a clear goal in in making the statement, even if they are sacrificing their integrity to make it.

Trump has always been malignant and incompetent.

This is ridiculous. This is not how a real reporter writes. This one sentence alone does a terrific job of tying together the absurdity of the piece.

As president, he has coasted on economic growth

Did a literal child write this? We're all entitled to our own opinion but this so completely divorced from reality you almost have to wonder what the target audience is at Slate. It's clearly not anyone capable of looking up economic and employment data which is readily accessible.

The article goes on to put together a number of half-truths, skewed and one-sided facts, and omits critical data as needed to bolster it's narrative.

It then rapidly jumps back off the rails:

Trump envied Xi. He wished he could control what Americans heard and thought, the way Xi could control China’s government and media.

Again, this is not the sort of thing a journalist writes. Did this person even graduate from a journalism program? It's funny but also not funny seeing Democrats utilize their almost total stronghold of the media and social media to utilize censorship and propaganda and then accuse Donald Trump--their most hated target for desiring to do the same thing.

Or do you not believe that the media engages in massive political censorship? You are pretty fucking dense so I suppose I could believe it.

But let's focus on the real issue here: COVID-19 did not materialize to be the threat that was sold to the American public. Even the propaganda you posted agrees-- IN THE FIRST SENTENCE OF THE ARTICLE:

On July 17, President Donald Trump sat for a Fox News interview at the White House. At the time, nearly 140,000 Americans were dead from the novel coronavirus.

The flu kills between 25,000 and 65,000 people a year. COVID, waning as it is, is on track to kill 5-10 times that number. So we're looking at the equivalent of a couple bad flu seasons at once--notable, but not worth destroying an entire nation's economy over. Furthermore, it statistically almost exclusively kills very old people many of which are in nursing homes. The average stay at a nursing home before death is six months. COVID kills people who were teed up to die this year anyway.

It doesn't help that hospitals are paid directly for counting COVID deaths and COVID ICU admissions, a direct incentive to pad numbers and mislead the public.

All of this hysteria, of which this article is a prime example, has been ginned up to attack Trump. Our entire economy has been utterly decimated to the levels of the Great Depression as a result. This is a direct attack on US prosperity in an attempt to usher in socialism in the United States--which is a real disease which has killed a hundred million people or more in the last century. See also: BLM and it's direct ties to the DNC and admitted Marxist leadership.

So when you post bull shit garbage propaganda, you get downvoted because people see it for what it is.

Go post on Reddit, you'll find the echo chamber there to be more agreeable to your worldview.

Care to give an example?

No

I don't think it does but please correct me if I'm wrong.

Really?

Or do you not believe that the media engages in massive political censorship? You are pretty fucking dense so I suppose I could believe it.

I'm dense if I don't agree with you? Change my mind.

OK this is energetic, what are you talking about?

The flu kills between 25,000 and 65,000 people a year. COVID, waning as it is, is on track to kill 5-10 times that number.

OK no problem then.

All of this hysteria

No it's not.

This is a direct attack on US prosperity in an attempt to usher in socialism in the United States

That sounds quite hysterical.

Thought not

I upvoted to counteract and for the core argument.

But I found this piece to be a heavy on the opinion and derogatory sentiment.

I'm not necessarily against a lot of accusations, as many of them are quite accurate.

But I found over all it was ham fisted in the authors over all approach.

This is information that should be acknowledged by all. But the language and style used, caters to the anti trump crowd.

Which defeats the purpose of who needs to hear these truths most.

Thanks for your comment, I will re read it with your thoughts in mind.

As did I. As awful as I think Trump is, I think he and the US as a whole have done about as terrible a job as other countries on this front.

"The Trump Pandemic" is at the same level as calling it the "CCP Virus" or similar. I think it's about the nicest 'pandemic' we could hope for, but even so, there are no easy answers during a pandemic - people will die/suffer one way or another.
