Voat will love the title.

I live in NZ. Ever since we've had that shooting, we've suddenly discovered that we've got a massive white supremacy problem.

I don't mean to steal from the left-wing and call a terrorist a lone-wolf, but he couldn't have been more of one. To put the blame on a systemic problem in our country is hideously stupid.

Tarrant wasn't a Kiwi. He lived here for a few months before getting a gun. He was traveling around the world going to countries like Pakistan, Afghanistan and North Korea. He wasn't put through any Kiwi institutions. To blame ourselves for what this guy has done is illogical.

If I made this post in another context, like /r/NewZealand or some random FB politics group about NZ this post would be misconstrued at sticking up for Tarrant. By not attacking my own institutions, which the guy never got involved with, puts me on the same side as him. It's bullshit, but not if you look at it through a mainstream lens.

Tarrant is a retard. There's no doubt about that. But the institutions, schools, culture, etc of New Zealand isn't the issue despite how the narrative has been framed.

In my mind, the real issue is why did we let an immigrant have a gun? If someone deserves to have weapons it should be for citizens of the land. It's real weird that we let this guy in (there's literally open borders between Australia and New Zealand), let him have a gun after a few months and he did his thing. If I were the one to change the gun laws, that would be a provision I make to the laws. You should be a citizen before you can get legal access to a weapon.

I don't like talking about this topic. I don't do it to hide his face -- that's bullshit. Streisand effect. What I dislike is how fast the government leapt on to monitoring conversations and blocking websites. A few guys are under trial for having a copy of the video itself. At what point will my discussions of this topic leap into dangerous territory that could be misconstrued into support for him? That's an uncomfortable thought but it's something I definitely keep in mind whenever I talk about the retard.
