Whoops, I forgot to come back and edit this. @E-Werd pointed out that it was not a dodgy domain, I was a bit quick on this one. From time to time we do get accounts that only post links to domains they own that are filled with ads and trackers.

The Age and the Sydney Morning Herald are both part of Fairfax Media, a major Australasian media conglomerate. I'd think clicks for one are equivalent to clicks for the other, both contributing to Australasia's lack of media diversity, but nothing out of the ordinary.
poptopnews.com, on the other hand, looks dodgy in the way you describe above.
