It's a good step forward, but too late. The snowball has been getting bigger and bigger in the tech industry where they literally have quotas now on hiring white men. Last year my company not only stopped recruiting events at "traditionally white male colleges" and instead focused their efforts on "traditional black colleges". They aim to stop the predominantly white and asian incoming engineers by enforcing standards that 25% of interns must be women and 25% must be URM ("Under Represented Minorities). This is at one of the largest tech companies in the US. I know because I was in meetings talking about this.

Treating people differently based on their race or ethnicity is racist, then and now.

It would seem people with a modicum of common sense realized this years ago. Unfortunately, it appears to be fashionable again... well, at least for everyone except white people. Everyone can self segregate themselves and, if I'm understanding the screeching properly, white people are expected to go to a special place
