There are two ways to take this and I suppose it depends on what side of the fence you live:
They're doing such a horrible job that they have to protect themselves from the citizenry.
They're breaking the establishment that so many people have to come to live off of and be twisted by.
Personally, I think
the republic is working as it should and prevents Trump's power grabbing and that people either don't want/have faith in the legal gettup the US has or they never wanted the legal system to work and want revenge.
There's such a serious shakeup (either corruption or "playing straight(er)") that the established system of politicians are legitimately afraid of what the administration will do next because Trump is seen as unpredictable (though he's been following through on his statements and campaign promises).
Also, from the article:
"There are simply not enough police in D.C. or Virginia or Maryland to protect all Trump officials at their homes and when they go out to restaurants. Getting a concealed handgun permit would be helpful to protect themselves and their family,”
