This is actually something I've been thinking about. As long as there's jobs for those displaced to go to, it won't hurt too bad; however, a lot of manufacturing for these technologies are automated already or able to be automated. We're fast approaching a world where there won't be many jobs to be had. This is a big reason I'm beginning to come around to the idea of a minimum income.

Exon and BP get killed? No tears shed here. Maybe if they had put a bit into renewables instead of hiring herds of lawyers to fight it they might have had a softer landing.
