what should I read next from George? I just ordered Mein Kampf (used on abebooks) but I almost bought a 1972 print new for 200 bucks... think I dodged a financial bullet but not sure yet it hasn't arrived. I like interesting stuff as I seem to be maturing a little lol

I would suggest Animal Farm, or Burmese Days.
Animal Farm was his second most read, and is an allegorical story about some farm animals that organize and take over the farm. It has the more interesting story of the two.
Burmese Days is a bit dry but does a great job of painting a picture of what life was like at that time and place, which is very different from now.

Ya, I read it a few times. I think it was one of the school assigned books, but I would have read it anyway.
I fell in love with Orwell's writing and read most of his books after discovering 1984.
A while ago I heard someone mentioning all the 'tropes' in the book.
The person didn't realize that they were not tropes at the time, that's where they were introduced.
I think Best Korea went the Orwellian route. I'm not sure if Orwell was mistaken, or if we heard his warning and avoided it, or if it just hasn't begun yet. But so far it seems we're more in Huxley's future. The EU was looking a bit Orwellian, but thankfully it is crumbling.
