My car's got a manual mode, but it uses simple plus and minus buttons and a digital interface to adjust the speed. Works great for driving up in the mountains. People just seem to get arbitrarily intimidated by the 6-speed shift for some reason. There's really no downside to using automatic if you're just driving in the city, probably less of a distraction too.

I grew up driving standard and for a few years drove a truck with a twin stick manual transmission and then a 13 speed but yes a auto is great in town. Oh and if you think a twin was a pain look at a three stick
