I watched a documentary about this place a while ago. I think it was this place anyway, so don't quote me.
There is a cave system at the bottom of the sinkhole with some really bizarre stuff in it. There are things down there living off sulphur, in areas with no oxygen, similar to the sulphur vents you find deep down on the bottom of the ocean floor. There are also some fish that have been found during excursions into the Mariana Trench that live on sulphur too, I think the Japanese found them.
It's actually pretty exciting, because it throws our idea of the building blocks of life out of the window, meaning there could be a vast range of conditions on other planets that could sustain life.
