Not long ago our landlord gave us are rent increase, he explained that he could have raised it 200$ because the apartments next door are charging $1200 a month. Here's my problem, our apartments were build in 1946 no central heating and air conditioning, no patio no pool. The much newer apartments around us has central heating and air conditioning, patio, pool and security gates front and rear. Unless the government put's rent control in place landlord will charge as much as they want, when will people start rioting for rent control ?.
