Bjorn Lomborg is well known for this 'climate change is real but let's do nothing' crap.

5% of GDP is inconsequential when considering a existential threat to the species. Obviously if the rest of the world does nothing, New Zealand would abandon its own efforts well before 2050 - but New Zealand going it alone is basically the only way considering New Zealand's impact in isolation makes sense, as the article has disingenuously done. The best a country can do is to take a leading position, and hope that others start to pull their weight very soon.

But we must ultimately focus on the reality that the best way to fix climate change is innovation that lowers the price of clean energy below that of fossil fuels.

The best way to drive innovation in clean technology is to seriously invest - but the author argues against that.
