The flir....is it worth it? Seen it on videos, but never seen it on a rifle in person. Damn near seems a novelty.

Never been a fan of ACOG myself....more of eotech, but wife won't let me. Lol so I got sightmark and a magnifier which actually holds zero.

That reflex sight in the pistol I am trying out....gonna see if it works for shit.

It really depends on its use. Hunting? Not at fucking all. Combat? Fucking game changer.

The acog is temporary. I really need an mgo. I do like the acog reticle though, and I needed something in my budget that would work with the FLIR. The scar eats cheap optics alive, and I didn't want to buy midrange and have it constantly lose zero.

Haven't tried a reflex on a pistol. Target shooting or defense?

So was reading about Tula ammo today and how the steel case rounds with the polycoat actually feed on AR15 just fine. So was at Dicks (was near where I was) and grabbed a box without reading it on caliber lol.

Picked up some 7.62x39 by accident.....looks like a need a new upper! Can't return ammo and all right? Right? Lol

So found me a 16in upper for 299 that comes with BCG and charging handle. Getting a side charging is too much like a fucking AK and if I wanted that I would make a damn AK.

Found some Pmags too for AR compatible that are 30rnd. So gonna see where this goes. What you think?

I actually really like the x39 round. I'm just not a big fan of 5.56 outside of how much of it you can carry. x39 seems like a good in between the weight of 5/56 and punching power of x51.

Also a fan of side charging handles, lol. I got really tired of the side of my hand getting beat up at the range when I was active duty, and the side charging handles are usually beefier and dont have that shitty little lock like AR platforms.

Never used pmags. My unit was too poor (Marines and all) to buy us shit like that, and there were never army units around to steal them from. We did get seat belt cutters one time... I use a 28rd polymer mag from Molon Labe Industries. I wish magpul would make some pmags for the scar 17 though.

I wasn't a fan of pistons until I got the scar. I've cleaned plenty of AKs and hated it almost as much as ARs. I can take a scar completely down and run a cleaning rod through the entire thing, so I don't end up having to put it in a solvent take to get it clean like an AR.

As for cans, I haven't tried making my own. The scar is a bit tricky with them, and even most commercial ones dont work with it. Its hard enough to get compensation correct without a scar specific suppressor, I couldn't imagine getting timing and compensation correct with something I built myself.

The 16in is for mid range target and shit hits the fan so needs to get fucked up.

The 10.5 pistol AR is home defense when shit needs to die quickly. It is so goddamn loud too. I zeroed it to 50ft and seems to hold. Only 4 mags put through the pistol as of now.

When I get to Oklahoma I am starting a trust and going to make it an SBR and apply for a couple suppressors along with another lower to SBR as I want to make a 300 blackout.

Make it the way it was intended. Just going to make my own suppressors as well. Kinda like this shit and the freedom it allows. I know it will all need a serial, and I am ok with that long as it is for this....plus I can make lowers all day everyday.

Doesn't matter really.

Far as the scar eating optics I haven't heard that, but I know it does hit like a jackhammer. The price of freedom right?

Suppressor is the way to go. The scar will make you feel like someone is jabbing an icepick in your head without earpro. I had a suppressor for it, but its pretty much dead now. When I was active duty I would shoot 5.56 with my left earpro loose or out so I could still communicate, but you just can't do that with 7.62 and they way the compensator is set up.

The bolt carrier group is massive in the scar. Not a lot of felt recoil at all, but anything mounted on the rifle gets a hard shock as that giant block of steel moves around.

I too prefer dumbfoundingly overwhelming home defence. When the front door gets kicked in in the middle of the night, why get out of bed? Put so many rounds through the walls that the only thing to worry about is cleaning up the piss covered body of the person that kicked the door in, lol.
