I'm surprised, too. One of the last projects I worked on maybe four years ago with Boeing we were experimenting with 3D printed components. I guess this is why the Government had to bail out GM, they never get it.
It's especially weird that they said Ford only started prototyping this stuff last year and they were the only American car company that didn't need a bailout. It's almost like their CEOs are asleep at the wheel.
That is surprising. I knew they used them for prototyping, but I guess I assumed they used them for more than that.
IIRC, Jay Leno was an early adopter of 3d printing for replacing classic car parts that are out of production.
