I'm 6b and sowed the cuke seeds around May 20. Definitely starting them indoors next year. Do a soil test right now, not the ph home test. Soilkit is good, nitrogen and carbon tests are stupid early in the year because they rapidly change depending on the organic material decomposing in your soil. This will give you a good reading on all other minerals like calcium which is huuge for most veggies

That's probably why mine didn't fruit. I didn't get mine planted until Memorial Day. Since we came back early I thought I might be able to get enough to give them a try.
I'll order a test kit today.

If you don't have any by now, you probably won't get any before the frost. You're what, zone 5a probably?
