Instead of marigolds, plant dill and nasturtiums.

Nasturtiums (which are edible) draw all the aphids. Dill draws all the ladybugs which eat the aphids.

Excess ladybugs means praying mantises and dragonflies.

I do this every year and the only things I have to worry about are june bugs which are scarabs and in such high numbers, the only solution is to use bug spray.

Hoping the dill I planted in the back sprouts up. I can give nasturtiums a try next season, or plant a few in the corner where the marigolds end

The tomato plants started flowering yesterday. It seems like every snow pea I planted (5th row from the left) took hold, so I'm going to have to thin those out in a few days. The beets need thinned out too. I can't tell how much dill is popping up in the last row because it kind of just looks like grass. Luckily I got a few cucumber plants that popped up on the far right of the picture
