A challenge I've set myself is to cycle to the next town and back. I had planned on this months ago but my damn bike tyre popped during lockdown and I was unable to get it repaired. Now I'm back on track.

There's absolutely no reason to bike to the next town. It's just for my own personal achievement. Why the h-ck not?

The distance to the next town is just 27km on the main road. But that's definitely not an option. There's not enough shoulder space and the traffic goes too damn fast. The alternative is the back road which is about 3km longer but it's safer.

I plan to break it into half once I'm in the next town by getting something to eat, having a drink, having a piss and then biking back home. That way it's only just x2 30km stretches.

I'm currently biking about 14km in 50 minutes everyday or thereabouts. I've done the odd longer thing and I've felt fine. But ultimately I just need to change direction and go to the next town and get it over with.

What I am currently waiting on is better weather. It's the middle of winter. Wind & rain can be a pain in the ass. I'd hate to be caught in the midst of it. I also need to tighten my brakes as they're currently ineffective at any speeds greater than 8kph.

The road is fairly flat but there is the odd hilly bit here and there. They always suck but if you do it at your own pace eventually you'll get over it.

I'm going to set a goal to do all this in about 5 hours at most. It'll be an afternoon thing.

I want to do it soon. I just don't know what the hell is going on with the weather at the moment.
