I have three MacBook Pro's (one with me, two coming). I've bought them, gonna do 'em up and sell for a profit.

MacBook 1:

This is the one in my possession. I've used this for personal usage for the better part of a year and a bit. Now I have a nice desktop and the Mac is no longer needed. It's a 2010. 6gb ram, 120gb SSD (had a 500gb HDD), Intel dual core something something. I had to replace the trackpad which costed about a $20 from Aliexpress.

Expenses: - $130 for the Mac - $35 for the SSD - $20 for the trackpad replacement $185

I'm currently selling for around $400. The platform takes 7.9% which is obscene. $32 bucks. So I'm looking at making about $183 profit.

Macbook 2:

This is coming in the mail. It's an i5, 2011, 4gb ram, 500gb. All it's missing is a battery and it needs an OS installed onto it which isn't a problem.

Expenses: - $150 + 20 shipping = 170 - $40 for a battery from Aliexpress - $25 for a charger ??? I'm not sure whether I should include this or not. It's a chicken and egg case. I could save money by not offering it but I'd lose more at the end sale probably. I could buy it and get another $10-20 on top.

I intend to sell for around $450 or thereabouts. Since it has an i5 and is a year newer. Fees would be $35.55. All up I'd be making a profit of $205.

Macbook 3:

I just bought this a matter of minutes ago. It's an absolute steal from what I can gather. I've tried to complete a search of it. From what I can gather it's an i7 2012 machine. But it could also be a 2010 machine similar to Macbook 1. Apple make their model numbers fucking hard so it's one or the other.

Expenses:

  • $65 + 15 = $80 for the Mac + shipping
  • $40 for a battery
  • $20 for a new trackpad (this is a what-if)
  • $25 for a charger -- again, I'm not sure whether to include or not.

I'll probably get $400ish for this. $30 fee. $230 profit if you just include the base mac + battery + fees.

Hopefully I can sell them relatively quickly. Seems like a fun little endeavour.
