Reddit is a website riddled with entitled people and obvious product placement. It's just an enormous hive-mind that sometimes feels like brainwashing, and the rampant censorship doesn't help either. Meanwhile, Voat feels like a place where I have to be a purebred German male who only eats food grown from his backyard and brushes his teeth with some weird natural plant extract to fit in. It's great that it supports free speech, but you're not really allowed to have opinions that differ from the majority or you'll be tagged a shill (which is why I was always reluctant to post anything on that website.) This looks like a place where there's both free speech and a respect for other people's viewpoints, which has been the Reddit alternative I've been looking for all along.

That why I left that site 18 months ago. Trying to discuss anything was a lost cause, specifically when it was related to discussions about the site itself. I use gab and phuks only now for social media. There is a lot of Nazi shit on gab, but it's easy to ignore/enjoy depending on if that's your thing. I dabble in a little of both.
