I'll give this a shot. I've only just browsed a few posts here, mostly by other displaced Voaters, so I'm really just echoing things, but while I had no issues with Voat's "immune system" so to speak, it also stifled most anything that didn't have to do with globalism and race. Mostly, I appreciated the ability on Voat to find alternative news sources and be able to discuss actual problems that western countries were facing.

Having said that, I watched more than a few small subs get destroyed by "free speech" crusaders that wanted to spew vulgarity everywhere, regardless of subs, and in my opinion that was nearly (not quite, but nearly) as bad as the censorship on reddit because it had the same effect of driving users away.

While I'm not a major content contributor, I had small music subs on both reddit and Voat (rock and blues), and I'd like to do the same here. I'll also be looking for any gaming (board, pen and paper, and video games) subs.

So that's that, I suppose. Regardless about what happens or doesn't with Voat, I'll be staying to give this place a chance.

Thanks for the welcome!

I vocally disagreed with the DinnerTable massacre, and I really believe it kept more niche subs from popping up. The precedent was set that certain groups could and would easily crush any sub they wanted.

I ran a small melodic rock sub on reddit for years and had my own rock and blues sub on Voat. I'll get a feel for what the music subs tend to offer and see if one of those types of subs can fill a gap or not.

I came over here too, mainly for the same reasons as you. I remember you, and you may know me from my other name there (C.O.F for short), almost exclusively in PaddysPub. I always posted with background info on the songs. I'm here cause a couple buddies from Paddys there opened the same here. I'm going to start out slow here, look around a little, and see how it goes. So far I like what I see. I look forward to you posting as I've always enjoyed your genres. Be seeing you around.

I'm pretty sure I know which user you were. Once I hit level 2, I'll probably get my rockandblues sub up again. Not that I posted often on Voat, but I'll probably start re-posting some things here a bit more often. I think I'll be diversifying my portfolio of content sites now, simply because I want options if/when one goes down.

Yeah, having a few options does seem like a good idea. Sometimes having a fresh start, with past experience, allows some improvements too. BTW, I try to post a link each Sunday night to an online version of a broadcast radio station that has a Sunday Night Blues Cruise. They play Blues from old to new for 3 hours from 9pm to midnight (central time). If interested, look for the post shortly before that time in PaddysPub. Looking forward to the potential here.
