I'll give this a shot. I've only just browsed a few posts here, mostly by other displaced Voaters, so I'm really just echoing things, but while I had no issues with Voat's "immune system" so to speak, it also stifled most anything that didn't have to do with globalism and race. Mostly, I appreciated the ability on Voat to find alternative news sources and be able to discuss actual problems that western countries were facing.

Having said that, I watched more than a few small subs get destroyed by "free speech" crusaders that wanted to spew vulgarity everywhere, regardless of subs, and in my opinion that was nearly (not quite, but nearly) as bad as the censorship on reddit because it had the same effect of driving users away.

While I'm not a major content contributor, I had small music subs on both reddit and Voat (rock and blues), and I'd like to do the same here. I'll also be looking for any gaming (board, pen and paper, and video games) subs.

So that's that, I suppose. Regardless about what happens or doesn't with Voat, I'll be staying to give this place a chance.

Yeah I think a lot of voat going full tilt on the racist stuff was actually driven by shills trying to undermine the sight. People like v/johncstevens who regularly posted his prog ideas and then would respond to his posts under different alts saying things like "gas yourself kike" There have always been extremists on voat but in the last year shit got a little crazy imo. Way more graphic and rude content I believe was driven by shills to make the site seem like a crazy far far right hangout. When before, in my opinion, there was much more actual discussion of race/culture differences if the topic came up and less, "gas the kike" "kill all niggers" type inflammatory bs that does nothing to help conversations about very real issues. It was also a good aggreget for alt media of different types like corbett, rubin, BPS and others. Though I will admit the site had a visible right leaning prospective. I was fine with that cause I'm libertarian who leans slightly to the right myself. But the huge increase of shitposts outside of normal places for that ie SBBH or v/niggers has really done a lot of damage to the site and driven away a lot of people who could use a dose of a different way of looking at things.
