I was a redditor for almost 7 years before being a Voater for almost 3 years

I'll give this a shot. I've only just browsed a few posts here, mostly by other displaced Voaters, so I'm really just echoing things, but while I had no issues with Voat's "immune system" so to speak, it also stifled most anything that didn't have to do with globalism and race. Mostly, I appreciated the ability on Voat to find alternative news sources and be able to discuss actual problems that western countries were facing.

Having said that, I watched more than a few small subs get destroyed by "free speech" crusaders that wanted to spew vulgarity everywhere, regardless of subs, and in my opinion that was nearly (not quite, but nearly) as bad as the censorship on reddit because it had the same effect of driving users away.

While I'm not a major content contributor, I had small music subs on both reddit and Voat (rock and blues), and I'd like to do the same here. I'll also be looking for any gaming (board, pen and paper, and video games) subs.

So that's that, I suppose. Regardless about what happens or doesn't with Voat, I'll be staying to give this place a chance.

Once I get a bit of posting history, I'll think about donating. I donated a few times to Voat when Atko still ran it, as there was legitimate communication with him. I stopped donating when the communication stopped.

Far as comes with admind from Voat......yeah never gonna happen it seems. I gave them a couple bucks seeing as it felt like the right thing to do. Plus they have a PayPal donation. I stopped using crypto soon as the banks paraised the use of block chain.

Plus it is just a bitch to exchange I to Fiat which is still the norm.

I love the idea of crypto, but you're right, it's a bitch to exchange. I initially got into Bitcoin as a medium to purchase gold and silver, and then Bitcoin shot up so I used that to get some other cryptos. But for me, I'm treating crypto mostly as a secondary investment opportunity.

Until I can use it in my everyday to buy shit I ain't touching it again. By how much it dropped and how quickly that had to be engineering. I don't trust it myself.

Maybe one day, but I don't see that day for a long time.
