I was thinking we could create a site currency or "fun money" called Phuks Buks.

Here's the bullet points:

  1. You must purchase Phuks Buks with real money (like a donation)
  2. Phuks Buks cannot be exchanged for anything and is absolutely worthless
  3. The exchange rate of real money to Phuks Buks will be random (a random number generator will determine how many Phuks Buks you get regardless of donation size. Therefore eliminating any sort of link between money spent and Phuks Buks)
  4. How will you receive Phuks Bux? I don't know a badge, or something, or nothing.

Why? It's completely silly and pointless.

If we don't use actual money or crypto wallets for payouts to users, it could be like an addtional form of voting and pretty cheap to add. Say you get a phukbuck for making a post or buy them with paypal/CC, then you can use a few of those to gild posts you like. create a new sort that's just the gilded posts. Kinda like reading the best-of-phuks.

We've talked about incorporating money a few ways over the years. I'd really like to see a way to buy tokens then tip people for their posts. Part of the tip goes to phuks, like reddit, but unlike them, then user can cash out the rest. Unfortunately paying out money and crypto makes security costs go way up so it's kinda in limbo, comingsoontm

Hold on. Reddit users get paid? I remember Reddit gold, but I don't remember any cash. I haven't been there in quite some time though.

At first thought I would be against it, to stem the abuses and vote rigging that may happen for profit. I want phuks to be profitable, of course, so I would purchase some to buy another user, say @Mattvision @ScorpioGlitch a gilded username on his posts. But, I'm easy. I'll go with whatever.

Oops updated. Reddit doesnt payout to users. They keep it all. I would eventually like to see a direct tipping mechanism from user to user.

I don't know about @ScorpioGlitch, but I definitely think my posts are worth money. In fact, if I don't start getting regular pay and health benefits, I'm going on strike!

No, reddit users do not get paid. "Unlike them..."

and I appreciate the thought but my posts are not worth money, really. I'm just usually posting whatever is on my mind.

Like right now, I'm really wondering if I need to get 2 group 31 batteries for my truck and if they'd even fit. I really just need a buttload of cold cranking amps.

It didn't say "unlike them" when I had replied. @pembo210 had meant it that way, but the wording was slightly ambiguous and I, of course, chose to apply the incorrect meaning.
