i cant imagine its impossible to make a class of badges that gives +0 xp, shit, thats code i could probably even write. maybe limit each sub to like 2 badges to try to keep peoples' profile pages from being a mile long if they are collecting badges.

It is very simple, but it's time consuming. I don't have the link for the ones we use, but all of the the icons on Phuks are like these things. The admins would need to make a ton of different badges, and it would be difficult to find icons suitable for certain things. Then they would have to implement something that would let mods assign them, so an entirely new feature would need to be coded into the site for that to happen.
It would be nice in the future at some point maybe, but there are more important things to spend time on atm.

i'm certainly not saying this is an important or necessary feature but implementing it so an owner mod can upload a black and white image that will then be shaded appropriately and giving mods the added option to award the badge or give preset reasons to award badges automatically would be less time consuming than most of the tasks on phabricator. on the plus side, it would give vain people reason to broaden their horizons of their usage of the site beyond the subs they came here for.

Badges give XP, and XP is going to be used for voting restrictions, so giving mods the ability to give badges would make it very easy for people to get around the voting system by giving themselves a ton of XP.
