As far as I can see it, polar extremes in politics, behavior, debate, and general treatment are going the same way. It's not only not close to appropriate, it's not healthy for anyone. It's obviously worse online because of the idea of anonymity and the fact that the only thing that you're physically interacting with is a keyboard and it's not likely that your keyboard is going to do anything about what you're saying. Ignoring what another person says or presents and using it as another chance to repeat yourself in ever increase amounts of hostility is the sign of some clearly psychotic issues.

It's a shame, really.

Keyboards don't punch you in the face when you say something dumb... that's the shame... I'm in agreeance with you on your point
