How in the phuk is that even determined anyway? Like how do they prove the car was unlocked? Are cops just walking around checking unlocked cars for guns?
It doesn't say, but I'd think the victims just tell the cops, "it was unlocked".
Where I live there was a rash of thefts from cars, all unlocked. Don't know why people don't lock their cars or why anyone would leave anything of value, let alone a gun, in a vehicle.
I get leaving your car unlocked. I used to live in a pretty rough neighborhood and after having my window broken twice, I just started leaving it unlocked. The key is I never kept anything of value in my car.
To leave a gun in an unlocked vehicle just seems foolish.
No signs of forced entry might be enough to cause a charge.
When you think about this could actually make people not report if their firearm is stolen. Not smart.
These are the people that ruin it for everyone. I'm not pro ordinance, but you should have some responsibility and not leave it laying around.
Stolen weapons don't show up until a second crime. I'd report it, but it's not like they put out a drag net for my missing revolver.
You'd be an idiot for doing so, but I don't see why we need a law for it. It is already illegal to steal a gun from a car... isn't this like victim blaming? lol
