I'm partial to my Marlin 60. It drives nails. I recently took the scope off it. It's more fun to shoot without it, and it's still a laser beam.
*and you're right, with a shoulder strap, it's not like it is heavy.

My favorite is an old tried and true Ruger 10/22. I've never been a scope guy and have always done alright with iron sights.

My dad has the Ruger take down. He won it at a raffle, lucky bastard.
It's okay, we had some issues with it not cycling correctly out of the box (tried different round makes). Gun shop fixed it, I don't recall what the issue was. Other than that it's been a solid gun. It's definitely flashier looking than my Marlin.

Just the latest in a new line of back packing guns and such. I don't need on myself. A decent, trustworthy .22 isn't very heavy and bulky in the first place.
