I enjoy going out shooting with my Mosin. But the cost of ammo at $18 for 20, plus the heat build up on the barrel after 50 rounds, plus the damn bruises from recoil. Have lead me to looking into something cheaper and less punishing.
I've also been interested in getting a pistol for home defense .
Does anyone have a solid combo (not that hi point $300 POS) that they would reccomend? Both chambered in the same caliber?
I've had a Springfield XD 9mm for several years, and I love it. It's around the $500 range. I went to store that had a range so I could shoot several different guns all at once.
As far as a rifle, you could get an ar-15 model with 9mm conversion. Once you have the AR, you can swap the top/barrel to different calibers so you could shoot the 9mm or the standard .223 ammo.
