In other words, the Minecraft market is saturated, the gameplay mechanics have reached a point of complexity where further updates to add content don't make a lot of sense, and upgrades, etc. aren't making them more money because it was fundamentally designed to just take regular updates that can't be charged for, and they want to turn it into a cow that they can beat and milk to death.
This is what happens when companies think that people aren't giving them enough money.
