That makes me believe we're seeing a knockoff and not an official version. The distinct analog d-pad is something Nintendo patented in the 80s and refused to license the patent, which is why the d-pad on Xboxes and Playstations sucked so bad. That patent expired after 20 years, but it makes no sense for Nintendo to change something that's been so core to their company for so long
