Sure it is. The kind of thing I envision would not sell a fuck ton of controllers. I'm thinking of something customisable/specialised made with very high quality materials.
I've taken apart every controller I own. Most of their issues stem from minor bad design choices, and all of them without exception use parts that are not up to scratch in some aspect. (The best controllers in terms of quality materials are PlayStation ones btw, others do not even come close when you actually look inside and see what's going on.)
People who play fighting games, speedrunners, people with a ton of consoles etc. would be willing to pay $100-150 for a custom controller. The market doesn't exist because nobody is doing it. The 8bitdo I have is the best thing out there in terms of "custom" controllers, but it has multiple design issues, is not the highest quality and has no support for anything that can not use Bluetooth.
I see this as trying to create an 8bitdo for the disabled community. It's niche upon niche in my mind
Oh yeah, this is clearly something designed for a different purpose. But it does raise the question of why nothing broader exists in terms of customisation in the first place. I've just been very surprised over the past few months at how poor the standard is for controllers, even ones created by the console maker.
Agreed but IDK man. I'm going down the rabbithole of disabled twitch streamers lately but I agree in a sense. While I'm sure a 3rd party solution might do something better I'm not sure the market is there for a smaller company or startup.
