Currently playing D&D 5th, the newest edition. I have also extensively played D&D 3.5 and various OSR retro-clones of the older editions.
AD&D 2nd had terrible adventures and the most byzantine rules-set - but some of the greatest campaign settings, such as Spelljammer and Ravenloft.

I haven't played since 2nd edition.
I had the best group ever. After that group split up, I was never able to find another group that could match them, and eventually gave up.
I tried getting back into rpgs a couple years ago, I met a girl that said she had a good group. It wasn't DnD, it was a post-apocalyptic zombie one, I forget the name.
The group was decent, and I was starting to have fun. But then drama began. A love triangle, actually more like a love hexagon, formed. Tensions rose. I could see that the group, that had been together for years, was going to fall apart because of my influence.
So I stopped going.
It's hard to find a good group, and also hard to keep it together.
I just don't have enough patience to deal with humans in groups.
