I've seen it in the kids I see playing it. Its all they ever talk about : how any Vbucks they have and what new skin/emote can they buy with them? Its a free game and none of the paid for items do anything but change cosmetics, but the cosmetics are so popular and the kids have grown a cult of personality around the top tier players and whatever package it is they are rolling out with in the battlefield.
Predatory to say the least, but honestly it always comes down to the individual. Even as a little kid I knew the difference between quality and quantity; what made the difference between a good game and a bad game.
