I picked up a few games for Xbox 360 the other day that I never got around to playing. I liked the first Just Cause on PS2, but the second one still has a major issue that the first one had. All of the missions are exactly, and I mean exactly, the same. You start doing missions for three factions that are trying to gain control of the country in exchange for information that will help you progress in the main storyline. This is basically a way to get you to play the same mission three times. If you skip the cutscene at the beginning of all the missions, they all play the same, because that's the only thing that's different.

Compare this to any GTA game from GTA3 onwards, and it is an entirely different scenario. Yes, some of the GTA missions are similar from time to time, but there is such a varied storyline and the game world is so rich and full of character that every mission feels unique. No other open world game does this as well as GTA.

Just Cause 2 also has one of the most irritating problems I've seen in any game. Like the first game, you can call a black market dealer to drop vehicles, weapons or extract you. If I want a pistol to be dropped, there will be a loading screen when I select the option, then an unskippable cutscene will play where the helicopter arrives, which is follwed by another loading screen before the game starts up again with the pistol on the ground. If you want to order multiple items, it takes minutes, because this process has to be repeated for every single fucking item. Because of this, I just don't use the black market dealer, even though there are times when it would be the best option.

The game is also incredibly difficult on the harder difficulty levels. One guy with an assault rifle can kill you in seconds if you end up in the wrong place at the wrong time. It means that you have to engage and then break off constantly to try and restore your health, and makes the game far less fun than it is on normal difficulty.
