How fast can you play 1-1 on Super Mario Bros?

I hooked up my emulators to retroachievements.org a couple of weeks ago. Basically, people make achievements for old games that you can unlock in emulators. Today I looked at the site and saw there was a Super Mario Bros speedrunning contest for 1-1. Unfortunately it expires tonight, but if you happen to see this post after tonight, you will still be able to record a time. You need to make an account on the site, download this [NES emulator](http://retroachievements.org/bin/RANes.zip) (others won't work) and [open this Mario ROM](https://u.teknik.io/RwTcz.nes) inside it. To change your bindings or configure a controller, just click config > input. When you start playing, a timer will show up in the corner and your time will be posted to the site on [this leaderboard.](http://retroachievements.org/leaderboardinfo.php?i=2409) ##Tips I'm posting this mainly because I have no fucking idea how the top guy got under 11 seconds and it is driving me crazy. I got a 12.38 using the world record route, and I got it almost perfect. If I got it perfect, I would be tied second with an 11.98. The only explanation I have is that the world record is recorded in real time, whilst this leaderboard is recorded in game time. The top guy must be using a route that is faster in game time, but I can't find it. Hold down B constantly, never stop. Press down on top of the fourth pipe on the level to get to the secret area, go through the next pipe. When you come out of the pipe, you will need to time your jumps to get to the flag without stopping. The jump to the fourth pipe can be tricky, you need to jump from the very edge of the third pipe and hold down jump all the way to get to the fourth. The underground room is also tricky, there is a pixel in the middle of the exit pipe hole that will stop you for a split second if you hit it, so your jump to the pipe needs to land just before the pipe. This is where I lost time in my run. I would recommend watching any world record attempts or the world record for tips, because they all do this route perfectly. Please get under 11 seconds and tell me how it is possible before I go insane. Edit: As a measure, the fastest time to the fourth pipe possible is 6 seconds flat. It is possible to get through the underground exit pipe with 380 on the in game timer, that is the fastest possible time for that part.
