Sudden Strike 4
Genre: RTS
I've had my eye on this one for a while. It is a WW2 RTS similar to Company of Heroes and if the game is anything like it is in the screenshots/videos it will be awesome. SS4 looks like it might have avoided the three big problems that ruin RTS games for me. First off, there is a pause feature in the single player modes, which is basically essential for me because I feel too rushed/pressured to enjoy pauseless RTS.
One of the other issues is the base building mechanics that these games usually revolve around (something that CoH had) - SS4 has no base building. I assume there will be some kind of resource management in the game, but it isn't going to be an endless stream of "acquire this resource to build this, so you can create this, so you can do this" etc.
And finally the other thing is, again, also an issue that CoH had. Lack of units on the screen. This is something that plagued most RTS games in the last decade, probably due to hardware restrictions, but it is still an issue now (for me, anyway). There is something exciting about a ton of activity happening on-screen, its the reason I was drawn to Running With Rifles and why I prefer Ultimate General over Total War. One look at the SS4 screenshots shows that it isn't going to be a problem, the battles are large enough to be exciting. There are three campaigns and I think the game was delayed a couple of times, so I'm guessing there is a fair amount of content.
For The King
Genre: RPG
Not a new release, but newish. It claims to be "a strategic RPG that blends tabletop and roguelike elements". To me it looks like Overfall but with better artwork. Supposedly it is hard as shit, but I like this sort of thing so I'll probably give it a go.
Sine Mora EX
Genre: Shoot Em Up
There are a lot of shitty sidescroller shooters out there, but this one actually looks pretty good. It's 2.5D and seems to have a decent world design at first glance. It says there is an arcade mode and mentions some time-based mechanics, so I imagine the gameplay format is similar to arcade shooters like Time Crisis, which I fucking love. I'll just copy this from the description:
Music composed by Akira Yamaoka, Sound Director of Silent Hill and Shadows of the Damned
Featuring boss designs by Mahiro Maeda, one of the most prominent Japanese anime creators (Blue Submarine No. 6, The Animatrix - The Second Renaissance, Kill Bill: Vol. 1)
Peregrin
Genre: Puzzle/Adventure
I cant really tell what the gameplay is like, it mentions puzzles but beyond that it's anybody's guess. The art style is the thing that caught my eye, it reminds me a little of Journey and Shadow of the Colossus bundled into one.
Supposedly the game is pretty short, but that isn't necessarily a bad thing.
Mega Man Legacy Collection
Genre: It's fuckin Mega Man
Obviously not new, but the second bundle just got released. It's like 20 quid for both of them together, which isn't bad.
Added bonus: Cat Girl
This Cat Girl BDSM game looks like it was pulled off Steam. I wonder why. It looks like the publisher has released 3 shitty RPG maker hentai games this month alone.
I gots to pick up that megaman collection
