Yeah, it looked like Havel's armor, but I wasn't sure. He was a pain to fight, got killed so many times by him. Eventually I kind of found something that worked, though.

I gave up completely on magic as a offensive after the gaping dragon.

Magic is fairly good still, but you have to improve your spells. Soul Arrow will only carry you so far (sorceries, I rarely bothered with faith, although I should), but Heavy and Great versions of that spell will still dealing meaningful damage that late.
