Am PA resident near Amish, can confirm. Here's the PDF version.

Hell, I worked at a computer shop and had an Amish boy bring in a laptop. Figure that one out. The machine looked like it was kept in a barn, everything was so corroded it wasn't salvageable.

Amish folks "go away from the fold" for a short while to learn what it's like to be like everyone else so that they can make an informed decision about the lifestyle

That's in the late teens, though. This boy was... a boy. He couldn't have been more than 12 max.

On that topic, though... Amish Facebook is a trip. When they join the world they inevitably make a Facebook account and participate, their behavior is hilarious.

It probably was. IIR the Amish only wire their barns for electricity. They do it to provide heat for their animals because animals can't use fire.

I live near a big amish community. It is not uncommon to see a buggy drive up to the bank. If you ever need to buy furniture tho, go to them. Astounding carpenters.
