Calling India a US ally is quite a stretch. I'd say they're solidly neutral and not part of any major power bloc. If anything they were closer to the USSR during the Cold War, and their air force is MiGs and Sukhois.

Actually why the f would Russia sell the S400 to a country with multiple US military bases? I'm conflicted in wondering if the units are defective or if they just simply think the S500 makes the 400 so obsolete or something, or if Russia just sells shit to anyone
