OK, it is time to put on your foil hat when it comes to the new Sonic movie.
What if this entire trailer was a way to judge reactions so they could make any changes before the debut. I mean, this is 6 months away. That would be plenty of time to alter Sonic's appearance, maybe change some storyline with editing, or fixing plotholes.
You can take off your foil hat now.
I watched something way back when they announced the movie's existence that expressed deep concern over the creative leads. I wish I could find the video, but the gist is you had a director from the fast and the furious franchise, Sonic Team members that were best known for their work on Sonic 06, and "untapped" b horror movie writers. It was already going to take some kind of cream accident to salvage before it even began.
Cream=freak, but I'm keeping it.
