Even sadder is that the Cal State University system couldn't figure out how to get more students to pass remedial english/math so they dropped the requirement altogether. It was unfair to "low-income students and students of color" http://www.latimes.com/local/lanow/la-me-cal-state-remedial-requirements-20170803-story.html

Maybe it's just me, but if someone can't pass the equivalent of 8th grade algebra, then they probably shouldn't be trying to get a college degree. Also, many of the lower income students have state-funded free tuition...seems like a waste of our tax dollars if they already couldn't pass the relatively low entry standards that used to be in place. The state is broke as hell, but at least there are no more racist Cal State entrance exams!

I took a few courses at community college during the summer to get some gen eds like chemistry out of the way so I could take more EE classes during the year....man those summer classes were hilariously/sady useless.
