So many questions here. Why wasn't the water topped with a lid? Was it even water? Who transports water?

It was probably rain water or melted snow. Most likely nobody even knew it was there.

Edit. Maybe, maybe not. Enlarging showed water in the second container also.

Man, why the hell did he lift it up so much higher than he needed to? That's water, too, and heavy as fuck... he's lucky he didn't lose the lot and fall forward.
