I had 2 largish crystals about 3 cm (1 inch) in diameter and 6 mm (1/4 inch) thick. Borax grows in a thin squarish wafer with slightly angled sides and beveled corners.

I was replenishing the crystallization solution and in haste I put the crystals in before it had cooled completely. They cracked into small pieces from the heat stress. The largest fell apart but the smaller one held together. Despite dissolving significantly due to the high temperature of the liquid it held together and is growing again.

Soon I will make sodium carbonate crystals which have a more 3d shape. Once I finish growing the borax crystal.
