I work for a Fortune 500 "business corporation". I busted my ass for 10+ years, but then I just stopped caring. It pays well and all remote since COVID. I feel like that fat guy from Office Space. They just kinda forgot about me. I do some "critical reports" - but 90% of my days 90% of the time I'm not working. As long as these 7 reports come out on first of month, I'm golden. Even if they come out late I just have to send an email explaining why they are late (waiting for data from vendors) and when they will be available (soon as vendors send data).
I've told them multiple times they could just integrate this into other groups or systems, but they don't' want to "get all drastic and change things up too much" and that I've "exceeded expectations" and they want to continue on. Part of it, is because were were bought by a much larger company and they just don't understand it or care.
My manager got promoted 4+ times and managed a bunch of other people and teams. Cool dude, but I talked to him literately 3 times a year. He gives me a good review and max compensation increase that is allowed for my level. He always approves vacation and time out without question. He sends me a gift card to a local pizza place every time they order pizza at the real office.
I once lost internet for 3 days and no one noticed. I once flew overseas for a "work vacation" for 7 days and worked form hotels and no one noticed, even though I only logged into VPN twice.
Eventually they'll probably lay me off, but I said that like 4 years ago, lol
I started smoking a lot of pot. Sometimes I get really high and have to take an IM and I'm just like "yea, I'll get that report out sometime this week or next" and they are like "Great!" and I'm like "yea, no problem". I also watch a lot of youtube of these women that do "ASMR", but I'm not sure it's really asmr, they just have their boobs hanging out and short skirts. Is that really asmr? It's just like soft core porn at this point.
Anyways, it's not bad. I do hobby projects on the side to keep my mind active.
edit:
They pay me about 2.7 times the median income for a family of 4 for this area.
