The first couple offices I worked in were similar to this, but with more privacy. Once I moved to California, the office spaces were all open floor plans with people parked so close together it was hard to not look at your neighboring co-worker's monitor. That was somewhat helpful at times when we were working 100+ hour weeks and had to be constantly talking out problems, but on normal weeks the workplace was just horrible to try and concentrate in.
