Original post here.

So I figured my transmission was gone and I was in for a huge bill. I had just done some 10,000+ lbs towing and figured my tranny was destroyed. I parked it and walked away in disgust.

Today I threw two quarts of fluid in and amazingly it ran like a champ. Im going to change it all out this weekend.

Moral of the story: check your fluids folks!

The question is: why was your fluid low? You're damn lucky, now find that leak!

Seriously, this. I've read that the bell-housing seals in that generation of F250 are for shit, might be a good place to start looking.

Always start with the easiest place first. Transmission cooler lines and pan gasket (if applicable).

It has always leaked. For the entire 17 years I've owned it. But I'm going to fix that nonsense this weekend!
