i really dont understand how that deal went through, the long term benefits from patents and stuff must be great because that bad press isnt going to be stopping any time soon.

Bayer wanted the seed business mainly. They didn't need the chemical part because they were already beating Monsanto in that area.

Monsanto was over a quarter of the worldwide seed market. Bayer is now spraying seeds with some fucked up chemical coatings and selling them at huge markup so they not only can sprout under harsher climates, but they seemingly change the color of the plant. What could go wrong?

That's been going on for decades, and almost every seed company does it.
