paper and then audio. I hate reading on a screen for long periods of time.

The kindle doesn't bother me too much ... but it is still a screen. I do prefer paper. I like kindle for books I"ll read in a few days like work related stuff.

Paper books if it's a first time read. Audio I feel subjects you to the reader's interpretation of the text and kindle is too much of a pain to go back in the text if you feel you missed something. Plus something about turning pages completes the reading experience for me.

Yeah I prefer paper but audiobooks I am hoping can help me waste less time when driving. The issue is if I daydream or something comes up I will not miss anything with a kindle or paper book. With audio I find it hard not to miss large parts of the story since my mind wanders. Podcasts with Q&A seem best (for my mind) since you don't have to hear every part to get something out of it.

I recently listened to L'Amour's Last of the Breed on Audible and it was fun, but if I hadn't read it a decade or more ago I would have missed too much.

Paper by far. I like to actually hold the book and flip the pages, I also like my bookcases so you can see the books. Feels better then looking at your ipad

I prefer paper, especially for important texts. However, I’m trying out a kindle for fiction reading.

I don’t trust electronic files. To easy to corrupt and change.

Depends, kindle is super convenient and great for reading documents and stuff I don't really need to study. I prefer paper books if it's something I need to study and gain a strong understanding of because I often flip back and forth and reread sections.

Like them all, but depends on the situation. Say I'm at the University and taking five classes with huge books. Instead of carrying all that an electronic format would be convenient. An actual book is still nice, because I know it can't be stolen or locked into only one app that if it gets shut down I lose it after paying. Audio is nice if you're able to understand what's being called conveyed. So I'd go with actual books.

"Audio is nice if you're able to understand what's being called conveyed"

What do you mean? If you are able to understand you mean?

Meant if you could understand the person's accent. For instance someone with a heavy Indian or Russian accent reading to you in english.

I bought a Kindle Paperwhite in April of 2013. I have not bought any paper books since then. I am a very avid reader and have been ever since I was nine years old. I average about three books a week and have done so for more than sixty years, as I am now 71 years old. At my age, I don't think you can blame my preference for a Kindle on a young person's eager acceptance of flashy tech. The Kindle is just so much more convenient, and the price of ebooks is SO much lower than paper books. As far as audiobooks are concerned, I have none, want none, and can't imagine ever wanting any; they just seem pointless to me.

Yeah for volume and price nothing beats a nice kindle.

My main issue is I buy ebooks and forget they are there lol. If I only did the kindle though it wouldn't be an issue.

What do you usually like to read the most? I mostly read science fiction.

I mostly like science fiction myself, although in the last decade or so historical fiction is a close second, especially novels set in the ancient world. One science fiction novel I highly recommend is "Permutation City" by Greg Egan ($2.99 via Kindle Store on Amazon). The man takes a mind-bending concept and fleshes it out wonderfully. His reach sometimes exceeds his grasp, but most of his books are really impressive.

Thanks I will check it out!

Hmm I wonder if we should do a book club here!
