Surprisingly, though, many of those EU countries have news websites and were very conscientious about document the many. many news stories about immigrants having no interest in integrating into their new society and would rather force their new host countries to become the same miserable places they left.

Well, you know what they say, pay your workers what their work is worth to you. If you won't pay your citizens enough that they can support themselves, then I think you can find the solution. That solution, BTW, is not to hire immigrants to work in your country illegally.
