This is sad, but fishy.
The parents are pushing the blame hard toward 'bullys'. But no details of any kind.
And I do not believe that a 14 year old that has a healthy home life would kill themselves over online bullying.

I know I don't have enough information to draw any conclusions, but I am guessing that it was the parents that failed the child.
Everyone get's abuse on the internet. There is more to it when people start offing themselves over it.

The trolls can drive many over the edge, anyone who's been around has seen that. Me, I don't lose any sleep over such irrelevant things, but a young teen, I could easily see it.

You're not wrong, but that is why it is important to teach these life skills to children.
If she placed that much value in what malicious strangers said, then I feel that reflects on the parents failing to prepare her for life.

This is true, I can't argue with it. But recently there's been a bunch of stories about increased suicide rates and kids/social media. Yes, parents have a responsibility here, the major one, and maybe it's time more exercised that and steered their kids away from it entirely.

Which is why we should revaluate if teens as young as 14 should have access to social media. I'm my opinion, no. There's no need for a 14 year old to have instagram, Facebook, twitter etc.
